Shortly before 1:15 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 19, members of the Salisbury Fire Department were advised of an active fire by a member of the Salisbury Police Department regarding a blaze that had broken out along the side of a home on Green More Court.
Officials said that it took a team of more than two dozen firefighters approximately 15 minutes to get the fire under control and the flames knocked down, but not before it caused an estimated $20,000 in damage to the exterior of the townhouse.
According to investigators, the fire originated from an outside trash pile, but the cause remains under investigation.
The fire marshal noted that there was a smoke alarm present inside the property, but it never activated due to the fire originating from the exterior of the residence. It remains under investigation.
Anyone with information regarding the fire has been asked to contact Deputy State Fire Marshals by calling (410) 713-3780.
